CAKE CUTTING AND SERVING GUIDE
Collection & Transport
- Carry the cake box from underneath, not the sides
- Always transport your cake on a flat surface, ideally in the footwell or the boot of your vehicle
- Keep the air conditioning on during warmer weather
- Drive carefully, avoiding sudden braking, sharp turns and uneven roads where possible
- Never place the cake on a seat, as it can slide or tip during transit
- Do not leave cakes unattended at any time
Storage & Freshness
- Keep your cake in its box until required
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, radiators and heat sources
- For freshness, consume within 3–5 days of collection
- Cakes containing fresh fruit, fresh cream or perishable fillings should be refrigerated and consumed within the timeframe advised
- If using a cake stand, make sure the diameter of the stand is at least 1 inch bigger than the cake board
Before Serving
- For the best flavour and texture, remove the cake from the fridge 1–2 hours before serving
- Allow the cake to come to room temperature before eating
- Remove any dowels, supports or non-edible decorations before serving
Cutting the Cake
- Use a sharp, clean knife and wipe the blade between cuts for neat slices
- For taller cakes, cut into strips first and then into individual portions
- If your cake has multiple tiers, separate each tier before cutting
Allergen Information
- Cakes are made in a kitchen that handles common allergens including milk, eggs, wheat, soy, nuts and peanuts. While every care is taken, traces cannot be guaranteed to be absent
